USEFUL FORUM
This is a very interesting, and useful forum. Which has a lot of good advice, and information, from contributors who certainly know their Citroens, and other French cars. [:D]
This Citroen section certainly seems to received the most posts, and has certainly been a source of useful information for me, and obviously many others, with 60,303 posts, at the time of writing this post, it's a virtual library of anything Citroen. [:D] [8D]
So, thanks to G.S.F. and the Andyspares team for running this very popular forum, and congatulations on reaching such a high number of participants, and posters on the Citroen section. [:D]
We seem to be the most active section on the forum. [:D]

I'll whole heartedly second that! Finding this forum while I was looking for another car was one of the reasons I stayed with Citroen and brought the Xantia. I wanted a Xantia but I have to admit I was put off by the thought of the hydro suspension - everybody knows it's unreliability and expense to repair.
Fortunately, the wealth of knowledge here convinced me I'd get the help I needed to tackle almost anything. And I've even brought stuff from GSF now I know they exist!

"Probably because Citroen are the most unreliable cars, but we still go on running them"
I disagree. I had a 1.9d for 4 years and not once did she let me down. When I sold her she had 213000 on the clock. On the back of that I bought another Xantia with 118000 miles on the clock.
Yes they have their quircks but like most things if you look after them they will look after you.
I am not one of the best car mechanics in the world but I do listen to the car and know when things are not right and try to repair the fault before it breaks.
This forum is almost like having a 24hr mechanic available to help sort out problems. I have had some fantastic time and money saving advice over the years.
I just hope that this forum runs for many years to come.

If you want an unreliable car that will cost you huge amounts to run then buy an Alfa Romeo, doesnt matter which one, they all go wrong with very expensive repairs at some time, plus lots of bits just drop off them, inside and outside the car !!
Thanks to the team that make this forum possible, it is the best source of citroen information i have ever found on the net

My opinion is with the general flow here, its a great forum. Saves money as you dont have to go to expensive mechanics to sort out niggles, find out loads of interesting stuff, and like mentioned earlier, its like a self help group for those of us addicted to Citroens.
Keep up the good work everyone.

like any old car, a used Citroen is only as good as the way it has been treated in its life. Yes there is more to go wrong but if it is treated well (by previous owners)[;)] it wont.
Just look at the state of the bodywork on most older xantias you see- if they have been treated the same way mechanically it is no wonder they fail when old.
I have owned my car since new: NOTHING needed doing under warranty[:D][:D][:D][:D] and since then has had Nothing done other than regular servicing (including oil/filter at 5k rather than 10k), tyres, front disc pads- oh and spheres at 40k because it was used off-road for a while!

This forum is certainly a fantastic medium with very enthusiastic people from all over the world with the same 'hobby'. The level of knowledge is stunning; this in contrary to most of the citroen dealers or other 'specialists' who lack the knowledge of how mechanics really work or simple don't want to answer questions form 'awkward' clients! Ten years ago you could only dream of such a network. Thank you!

I think it's fair to say that it is the enthusiasm of the people here that just tips the balance in favour of me staying with Cits for a bit longer, I keep thinking that 25 years of exclusive Cit ownership is more than long enough, but if I change makes, will there be another group of people with the knowledge and sense of humour that this site has? Thanks people
