This has most likely been asked before but I can't find any thing in Search.
But how do you measure what speakers are in your car to find replacements, like the fronts in a ZX.
Do you measure the outside diameter, the PCD of the screw fixings or the Diameter of the hole. Are the standard fronts 100 or 125 or 130 mm diameter and what do you reckon are the best for sound quality, not loudest.
How do you measure speaker sizes

Hi, just take one out and pop into the store (it only takes a few mins to remove one), The ones in my ZX were a standard size (I forget exactly) and I got some Alpine replacements which were good. I did go back in and tell them that they weren't any better than the ones I had, but apparently speakers take a while to "bed in", and sure enough they sounded great after a few hours playing.

vibe do the trick nicely (ST50 or ST60 depending on, the sixe you need) ive been running mine in as hifi speekers for a while to get the voice coils use to some abuse (its is actualy about getting the voice coils use to use and breaking in the edge (surround) of the cone). i picked them as there suposed to be some of the best sounding speekers. there not a patch on my B&W DM602's but then even £500+ floorstanding kefs cant beet them so its an unfair comparrison.

Any 130mm speakers should do.
Here's a Pioneer speaker selector:

Any wont do... I found this out. Bought 2 sets of SPLX (i know they aint very good, but my zx ones crackled and were more or less knackard, ended up replacing with more zx ones) which were 130mm (or 13cm!) and they didnt fit. Id measure the hole, and then measure the back of the speaker in question to make sure it will fit. In general most 130mm ones will fit, but to be honest, I think the ones fitted as standard are pretty good, unless you are prepared to spend alot of money.
