smelly air con

Hi my air con smells like sweaty socks, I believe its bacteria but how do you kill it off. regards john.

Change the filter as A start, easy job. Then put a/c on with controls on hot. I was told this on recent thread and it did the trick.

I bought some air con cleaner off eBay - genuine Citroen stuff, cost me £3.
Remove filter,
Spray in with blower running but A/C off
Leave for 10 mins
Turn A/C on
Refit / replace filter.
Job done[:D]
Halfrauds sell something similar for £10 - contains an antibacterial agent.

If you can buy an air freshener called "Glen 20" over there, try that.
It's an anti bacterial and is used out here on International flights coming into the country to lessen the risk of airborn bacteria coming off overseas flights as well as being used in air cons where the fear of legionella disease is suspected.
