Can LHM pump from diesel go in petrol model

Hi,
The LHM pump in a 1.8 8V Xantia is making some nasty noises, whirring noisily.
I've got access to a Xantia Diesel for parts, would the LHM pump in the diesel go into the petrol car? Any simple alterations needed if they are actually different?

They're the same pump, you'll have to make sure that the pulley is the same but apart from that, it'll swap straight over.

Thanks for the info. If the pulley is wrong, is it possible to swap the pulleys over from one pump to the other easily enough?
Also, I forgot to ask before, how do I tell the difference between the old pumps and the newer 6+2 ones? Am I right in thinking that the older ones have only 1 LHM output pipe, whereas the newer have two pipes coming out?

Newer pumps have two outlets, not sure about swopping the pulley.

I wouldn't think you could change the pully as new ones come supplied with it already fitted. The diesel one has a smaller pully to get sufficient speed due to the lower revs of the diesel engine. if the connections and mounting are the same, you could use a shorter belt but you would probably be over revving it a bit.

6+2 pumpshave built in power steering flow valve and diferant amount of pipes.if you have got a unit bolted abovepresure regulator this is flow valve,and a 6+2 is wrong pump,i am not sure the diferants between diesel and petrol hydraulic pumps regards malcolm
