Tyres Original Size

Having bought my 1996 Xantia 1.9TD recently with tyre sizes of 195/50/15, I was wondering what the original tyre sizes were? The sticker on the side of door indicates 185/65/15 but the manual says 195/55/15 for 1.9TD. Which is the correct original size? Thanks.

Read your manual's 'tyres' section - it will tell you what you want to know.

i agree jem .. i have noticed the 185 because they are oddball size cost more than 195, which give better trachtion anyways id leave the 195s on

I have 195/65 Goodyears at the front of my Xantia and 195/60 Coopers at the rear and I think that next time I will try to put Michelin all around, as recommended by Citroen...

The suspension on Citroëns is designed to work in conjunction with the tyre dimension recommended by Citroën, thus certain more "sporty" versions have the suspension parameters adjusted to work with lower profile tyres; this applies particularly to cars with hyra-pneumatic suspension. If you want to experience the car as Citroën had intended, then stick to the recommended tyre size! (and make!).

Thanks guys for your response. Nisk, that's what I'm trying to determine, what were the original tyre sizes cos I bought my Xantia used. My tyres now are 195/60/15, sorry not 195/50/15, that was a mistake. However the manual states 195/55/15 for 1.9TD and the sticker at the back of the door indicates 185/65/15, so which is the original size? Those of you who drive Xantia 1.9TD 1996 or thereabouts, what are the original tyre sizes you had?

Hi,
My '96 1.9TDLX has had 185/65/15 from new according to the fleet history report and I have stuck with this since getting the car some years back.

Ah, an answer I was looking for. Thanks Chris for your response. Next time I want to change my tyres, I will get back the original 185/65/15 for best performance.
