Xantia bumpy ride

Hi
I have a 1996 Xantia 1.9 diesel. Lately the ride is really bumpy. The car is fine if the road is completely flat but if there are any bumps then the ride is terrible; I almost bang my head on the roof it's that bad! The suspension seems to be working fine in all positions but I am really puzzled by the sudden bumpiness of the ride...Anyone got any ideas? BTW the problem seems to lessen slightly when the car is fully loaded.

If the ride hieght is correct it is almost certainly 0ne or more spheres that have failed or at least have low pressure. You should be able to bounce each corner of the car two or three inches, with the engine running, if you find one corner is hard, that's the sphere.
They are quite cheap at GSF cars but you will need a chain strap wrench to get them undone.
