Poor starting TD, and Oil leak fixed!
Pottering about today, and decided to see if I could tackle the oil leak on my ZX TD. Turns out it was where the filer "neck" for the oil, jubilee clips onto the block, the filler was loose, tightened up and worked a treat. While I was down there, noticed green furry bits on the connectors on the solenoid on the started, so decided to clean them. Low and behold, I found the reason the car has been "failing" to start (or engage the starter). The live feed for the solenoid had lost its nut, and become disconnected. Resolved this by putting spade connector on. The car now not only starts when asked, but also starts better than before. So I suggest that if you have starting problems, check the connectors on the starter motor, and clean them.
