That's a bit of question, like asking which is the best 'Pub' in your area. Anyway I would say GoodYear NCT5.

I go with Michelin Energy each and every time for two reasons, there are only two brands my supplier does, michelin and some cheap foriegn make. Seconds they only cost 41quid per corner including fitting etc
on the other hand, they are also recommended for the BX (if i remember correctly), they have the grip to go 'off road' accross grass and hold okay in the wet, there not great in the snow though!!

Michelin energy may cost £41 for a BX but for a Xantia I paid £80 odd a couple of years ago, bigger stronger tyre and with a higher speed rating for the heavier Xantia.
They weren't quiet by any stretch of imagination and allways felt like they were rolling under when cornering, didn't like them one bit and was glad when the buggers wore out.
Take a tip from the badge on the front of your car and get tyres with a "V" shape tread pattern if you want less noise.

Dom,
Not sure about the Xantia, but for me the best tyres i've ever had (and i've tried just about all brands) are Continental Sport Contacts. I don't think these are made anymore, but the replacements are supposed to be even better - Continental Premium Contacts. If you don't believe me, see the recent AutoExpress roadtest where they came top on just about everything (think the Vredsteins were a little cheaper though... but not as good). Much MUCH cheaper than Michelin too. I never noticed any roadnoise with the SCs on my ZX Volcane, but I suppose it depends how thick the carpet is on the Xantia!! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> Incidentally, I think Michelin came 2nd bottom with the comment "I really can't understand why these tyres are so expensive".
Hope this helps...

Michelin energys if you want a quiet ride - I first fitted them on a 205 and was impressed by the lack of tyre noise. fitted them on my current car (ZX) and they seem just as good. They last well and grip extremely well in the wet. TOYO do some pretty good equivalents if you don't want to pay quite so much - I know a few people who swear by them, including my local independent Citroen mechanic.

Citroen recommends Michelin tyres for the Xantia - check manual for exact specs.

Have tried nearly all "top makes" so far on my ZX TD Volcane, from Avon ZV1 to Yokohama 539, from Pirelli P600 to Bridgestones, the best for me so far would be the Continental PremiumContacts, low noise and decent mileage which is a bonus for me, the Pirellis were good for grip but gave low mileage.
To be fair, it's a personal thing and someone reading this could very easily rubbish my claim. My car was fitted with Michelin's when new which gave brilliant mileage but were dodgy in the wet!

Best cheap ones, Pirelli P6000, great in wet or dry but they wear out too damn quick. Highly recommended are Goodyear NCT2. I have also experimented with Yokoham A520 but again, they wear as you look at 'em. I personally use Michelin XT1 Green Energy on both ZX and Berlingo that I own, they last, they are not noisy and the grip is good.
I drive "enthusiastically" and have covered 32,000 miles on a set of XT1 Michelins on the front of the Zx, and they are not quite on the wear indicators. I'm going to stick a set of P6000's on it in the next couple of weeks because I like the way that you can warm them up and they get really sticky, but, hey, asking people about their choice of tyre is like asking someone about their favourite politician as far as I'm concerned.
A minefield and just as contraversial.

ok folks,
cheers for all of your feedback.
will look into getting michelin energys and paying the bit extra, checked out e-tyres.co.uk, quoted £235.00 for all four + balancing.
one more question, does anyone know of a web site that has these tyres at a resonoble price, checked out the above were priced at £53.02 each, is this a good price or not??
