C5 / Xantia clutch cable clip

Post by ktaylor21662 »

Can anyone tell me if the C5 has the same failure problem that the Xantia has with the plastic clip that connects the clutch cable to the pedal. Kevin.

I believe all C5 (and Picasso) have hydraulic clutches. So no clips.
They have their bad points too though.

Isn't it ironic that a car maker at the forefront of automotive hydraulics for decades, used a cable on so many of their cars?
A case of being different for being different's sake almost.

Have the hydraulic clutches on newer PSA group cars proved themselves to be more or less reliable than the old cable operated ones?
I havn't heard of any failures of hydraulic clutches on PSA cars.

I've heard of problems with the clutch slave on the Picasso HDi causing clutch drag and premature failure of the clutch itself. On the C5, the 2.0 HDi 110 has also had some clutch issues, caused by failure of the dual mass flywheel.

Jon, what does the C5 flywheel failure feel like?
My cluch pedal biting point varies and sometimes the clutch is very violent. Dealer says its fine.
Although dealer isn't really bothered about the 4th suspension leak either.
