How hard is the aux drivebelt change?

Unread post by mattpc »

i service my Xantia TD myself,do the oil and filters etc. However, I think the auxdrivebelt masy need changing. I've had a peak and it doesn't look like it's in very good condition. Is this a job the novice mechanic can attempt or is it best left to the pros? Anyone know how much it should cost from a garage/?

with or without aircon?
Without aircon, easy peasy. With aircon, still easy, but rather fiddly and a bit more long winded. Even with A/C should take no more than 30 mins from start to finish.

Easy enough but do make a sketch or take a photo of how the belt runs and make sure your new one is the right one as there are variations.

My alternator went & had no choice but to do the deed myself, the only problem that I had was the alan screw inside the tensioner pulley, the first alan key was to short on the short leg but a longer key did the trick & i was surprised just how easy it was as I have always had it done with the cam belt
