MK2 Xantia seatbelt.

Post by howiedean »

Hi,
My Xantia is due for an MOT next month. I've noticed that the drivers seatbelt has started to fray a bit where it goes through the buckle over your lap[:(] Does anyone know what would constitute as an MOT fail?
Also is it a major job to replace as I assume that the pretentioner sytem is on the fastener part which is attached to the seat.
Many thanks,
JohnD

A quote from the MOT regs:
Seatbelts must be securely fitted at their respective mounting points. The webbing should be free of cuts and fraying. The inertia real should lock when tugged sharp and, when buckled, the seatbelt should not come away from its locked position until the release button is pressed. This applies to both front and rear seatbelts, where fitted.

Thanks for that, I'm going to have a go at tidying it up a bit (it is only slight) and if all else fails I'll have to replace it.
Cheers
