Post by inthemicz »

Is this the correct procedure for removal of accumulator sphere on 93 xantia 1.9td
start car
set suspension to highest setting
jack up car and support
set to lowest setting
switch car off
release pressure screw
wait
tighten pressure screw
remove sphere
remove seal
attach new seal
attach sphere hand tight
start engine
set to highest setting
release and tighten pressure screw till car raises
I think this i right after reading various threads on this forum, is there anything i've missed?

The correct procedure doesn't involve setting your suspension to its highest setting or jacking the car up.
Start the engine, set suspension to lowest and wait for a while for it to go down and lose all of its suspension pressure, the stop the engine and slacken the pressure screw on the pressure regulator (don't unscrew it all the way). Remove the old sphere and seal, put on the new sphere and seal, tighten pressure screw, start engine.
Citrobatics then follow, up and down and up and down etc until you're happy that all of the air is out.

Very important :
Locate the new O-ring seal on the regulator - NOT on the sphere !

I'd agree with Anders on putting the seal into the regulator. If its one a square sectioned one you can do this easily, the round ones tend not to want to stay put.
