C5 Cruise Control - new developments

Post by 406 V6 »

Guys, I'm sad and depressed...
I took the C5 today at the dealer, the mechanic spent a lot of time on the Lexia with me watching, but could not find any function to activate the CC.
Com2000 detected the On or Off state of the control button, but nothing more.
He made a searche on the computer and got a document where it states that adding, removing or susbtituting the CC stalk needs no programming.
The document refered to ORGA nr. 968x onwards, mine is 9535...
I'm done, right?[xx(]

it seems it's an orga related problem.. shouldn't a firmaware update do it?
I'm gonna sell the stalk and cover the hole for it...and maybe fit an aftermarket CC.
Too bad[:(]

you would think that the firmware can be updated to make it work, basicaly its only a software issue? thats why I asked if your missing another item, if so that needs to be installed.

for being automatic after orga nr. 9680 and not before... plus it is recognized by the system, as Com2000 says it's there.
The accelerator is connected thru a cable to the potentiometer under the BSI, so it's electronic still.
All hardware is there, brake pedal withc, cable, stalk controller...
If you could see it, i would be gratefull, Andy.
Thanks

You should be able to apply a firmware update IF the hardware is the same. If they've changed something in the ECU hardware wise, a firmware update won't work.
What happened at orgn 9680, what was actually changed then? If that just represents a change in the ECU firmware you could just get it updated or worst case get the later ECU.

On a C5 with the mechanical gearbox, the sensors on the clutch and brake pedals must be properly adjusted (both must work coherently). If they are not the ECU thinks that one of the pedal is still pressed thus the CC doesn't work and the Lexia doesn't show any fault.

I have a citroen brochure here which shows a CC stalk as an accesory for the Xantia or Evasion with a reference number of 9452.43. Would that mean that I could fit it to my 2000 Xantia HDI Exclusive? Would all the other bits be fitted from standard?

Francisco- CC needs to be activated in the injection ECU as this is what controls it not the BSI,was the technician looking in there ? Citroen refer to cruise control as 'RVV' (dont ask me why, must stand for something in french) so when you go back to the injection programing menu set RVV to PRESENT,should do the trick as i cant see why it shouldnt be possible on your car.

RVV = Regulateur de Vitesse. Don't know what the other V is for though.

The difference between the two cruise control stalk part numbers is that one is for earlier cars, the other is for later cars. Citroen Manchester helped me identify the correct one based on my ORGA.
