ZX TD Volcane Strutt Brace ?

Unread post by rashmore »

Now I know that the car is ok (touch wood) thoughts have gone back to suspension improvements.
Was going to renew dampers all round and new springs. This would obviously make a marked improvement over current, even using volcane spec as opposed to stiffer.
However as an interim improvement, thought about strutt brace.
Can you get these for zx td, or would i have to make one, can't seem to find one - intercooler etc means not a direct route....
Would it make that much difference, reduce roll, improve grip before I embark in creating one ? likely to upset front/rear balance ?
Cheers

I would fit new shocks and struts first if there is any doubt about their condition, and any rubber bits like the rear axle mounts you come across, it never fails to make any vehicle feel so much better, the ZX/Volcane is a pretty good handler in standard trim but after everything else is done maybe a strut brace might improve it, there are braces available with bends to avoid intercoolers etc but IMHO the brace would be the last thing to fit.

Yep get the rest fixed then fit a brace if you feel you need it.

Fair enough - thought I might be going about it reverse order (cheapest)
Recently had new rear arm bushes(front and rear), so that area ok.
Would you stick to standard replacement or improve on it ?
Time to get some new quotes then, cheers

Replacing the anti roll bar bearings (£14 from Citroen) made quite a difference to the handling on my volcane[:D], but the old ones were completely shot to pieces though.
Most noticable was less roll and more composure during brisk cornering.
