Warning to Paypal users

Post by np »

Had an email today from Paypal.Said that my account/Paypal I.D has been used in Europe. They are asking me to confirm all my account details by clicking on the link in the email..If i do not confirm my details, they will have no choice to suspend my account.
Yeah right[:I][:(!][:)].Do they think i was born yesterday?Went into my Paypal account through Ebay,no activity since my last purchase over a month ago. This apeers to be a similar scam that my sister¬s boyfriend fell for.An email from Ebay asking to verify his details.Which he did, then found over £1000 worth of ebay purchase`s on his account,& his credit card. Not long after i had the same email.Read the details on Ebay, they say they NEVER mail you asking to confirm your details. So i`m sure the Paypal Email is a scam.
You have been warned[}:)][:(!] [:)]

Never ever click on a link in an email like that.
If it is from your bank/ebay/paypal then go directly to their site the way you would normally and log in.
Don't even click out of curiosity, you don't know what nasties are lurking on the site you get sent to.

I wouldn't bother. It will be a fake.
You could send the whole email to ebay, I'm sure they have a contact for reporting these things but then they must get thousands a day. The trail will probably lead back to Eastern Europe or the former Soviet Republic.
The simplest and best way is to bin it and forget about it. If everyone did that there would no longer be any point in the scammers sending out the emails and the internet would become a safer place.

indeed that would be best, if ebay get a load of these mails they should hopefully at least send out another mail to everyone saying that they will never ask for account details

I've had a few of these fake Ebay emails, if you do by chance click on them it takes you to a web address in Poland or Russia. Just immediately delete the things.
Then run a blast of something like Spybot search and destroy just to be on the safe side.
