Hi guys ive got 95 citroen zx and noticed a staining around the power steering fluid tank. I removed the tank to find some serious rust. My screw driver went straight through. After some more prodding im left with quite a big hole in the inner wing i.e. i can see the top of my right front wheel. Ive checked the other side under the wheel arch and it doesnt look to promising, but im hoping i can get away with cleaning it up and doing some serious wax oiling in those areas. I have wax oiled the arches a couple of years ago and didnt notice anything then. So im a bit annoyed because the car itself is unmarked and in excellant condition for its age.
Its not really urgent as the cars not in use, i drive a laguna now. but is it really worth repairing the car as it aint worth much or shall i just scrap her.
serious rust

All depends on the rest of the car. If it's a diesel, and in good condition, then it's possibly worth repairing. If it's a petrol model, especially if it's a basic model, then it's proably not worth the effort. I've just been offered a 1994 ZX TD with 11 months Ticket and a blown head gasket for 50 quid, and I doubt I'll take it. It's all too much like hard work! Hmm.. Maybe I can convince him to give it to me for free......... [:D]

If you can get access to the whole of the hole, then getting a plate buzzed onto it is the easiest solution. If you happen to have (or can borrow) a Mig, and have a bit of old car body panel available, it's a cheap and easy fix.

you aint getting the car for a tenner. id be giving it way for that its spotless. because other than that inner wind it totally rust free. it seems the wax treatment under the front wheel arch had cracked, and it basically rusted through. Im going to get it welded up next week, so it should be sound again. Ill post a picture.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, you d have bargain.
Oil changes every 3000 miles using castrol maganatec 10w 40 with purflux filters by myself.
Recently had a new air filter, fuel filter bosch super 4 plugs, new genuine ht leads about 12 months ago
Brake discs and pads have recently been changed (Genuine parts used)
Rear subframe mounts replaced 12 months ago (genuine parts)
New front tyres 12 mths and 10,000 miles ago mich energy's not cheap
Polished using auto glym super resin policy every month.
Wax oiled whole car but missed the top of the suspension turret hence the hole.
Basically the car has been maintained regardless of cost and is exceptional, there is not rust anywhere else, apart from the f****** hole in the inner wing.
unfortunately she isnt going anywhere yet. so £12 is a big no no. thanks for the offer tho.
