Xantia HDi faster than CX 2.5 GTi

Post by Thunderbird »

What a surprise... [:D]
- CX 2.5 GTi (84 on) 140HP, 206Nm, 201Km/h
- Xantia 2.0HDi Upgraded (1999-2001) 136HP, 293Nm, 202Km/h
Never imagined the CX GTi was so slow. [xx(]

Big heavy car and only 140bhp will lead to a tiny bhp/ton figure so yes the cx will be slow :)

VisaGTi16V,
Not 140bhp - only 138bhp. 140HP/PS.

so even slower [:)] 138 and 1370kg? so thats 101bhp/ton? My visa has 220 [:p] and if all goes well it will be running at the weekend for the first time in 2.5 years! Will be good to get back in a fast car again. My supra has 200bhp but its big and heavy so not very quick

Nah, your using the wrong CX, my old CX GTi is still hauling effortlessly at 220km/h and will accellerate nicely if you put your foot down.
If your HDi is seriously putting out 293Nm of torque, no doubt it's top speed and acceleration should be higher.
I still think my old bog standard old CX will effortlessly leave any standard Xantia (even the V6's) for dead. You could probably watch the fuel guage dropping though if your decided to sit on 140mph though[V]

What you see marked on your car is not the real speed. If that was the case, than I could say my Xantia HDi "flies" at 230Km/h.
Those specs are for CX GTi mk2 (2.5 engine). The previous GTi was even slower:
Mk1:
- CX 2400 GTi (77 on) 130HP, 197Nm, 189Km/h
Mk2:
- CX 2.5 GTi (84 on) 140HP, 206Nm, 201Km/h
Your car best score is 189Km/h. [xx(] You call that speed?! [:0]
Comparing to a Xantia V6 manual:
- Xantia V6 (98 on) 193HP, 265Nm, 235Km/h
Note that at 235Km/h the Xantia marks around 255Km/h.
Now, a CX GTi Turbo 2 is another matter, yet nothing special.

Ahem, what can you use the topspeed for...?
The acceleration is much more of use, so which of the ones you guys mention is the fastest?
From 0-62mph/0-100kmh, and the winner is....?
And what about topgear, 80-120kmh?
Just my 2 cents...

agreed but I would say the best figure is 30-70 thru the gears which is probably the most common closely followed by 50-70 in top gear. You dont often do 0-60 thrashes unless youre a boy racer or you compete. My Visa is geared to 137mph in 5th which is a couple of mph too high for the events I do but it will do for now. Plan to swap to a 6 speed box in the future which will give 138 in 6th but then 5 evenly spaced gears below it.

Did I forget to mention it *is* a GTi Turbo [:D] [}:)]
The only car I know of that matches them is the 160hp Series I BX16valve (about 7.8seconds to 100km/h). I'm not sure of top speed, I backed off at about 220km/h and it was still pulling hard. The V6 slugomatic Xantias aren't quite that quick I don't think.

The V6 Xantia has 200ish horsepower and is lighter than the CX. The slushbox has a lot to answer for if its slower than the CX GTi....
I don't think its fair to compare a modified car with a standard car, the CX GTI can be modified to far more horsepower than an HDI Xantia...

the other thing to remeber is that the 2.5 gti was designed to take the abuse that those figures take on it ware as the HDi was designed to take 110bhp of abuse. i know whith out a doubt which engine will do the most miles...

Of course - no doubt about it.
After upgrading the average RPM got much lower, due to the extra torgue.

And the extra torque will put a lot of extra stress on the little end, conrods and crank... from experiance the PSA botomends are always the engiens weekness.

Yes, that's also true.
That's why I'll get rid of it around 125Kmiles. [8D] [}:)]
