relay van start up

Post by topmixer »

hi iam going insane trying too find a prob with my relay 2.5 diesel ,i have aleaky injector which im going too replace ,but the problem is that after vehicle has been left fro 4 or 5 hours it is very hard too keep running from start up , ie turns over and when you drive off as soon as you get 3 or 400 yards it dies as tho its strugglin for fuel .i then turn it over again repating this 3 o5 times before i actually get it on a run then it heats up and away i go .now if i stop fro say an hour and then start up no probs as previous but as soon as i leave it for a longer period ,prob starts again . it seems as if the fuel in pump drains completly back intoo tank . now i know that i could change pump!!! very expensive ,but if it was knackered would i really still be able too drive as i do all day at 70 mph etc no prob ,any advice on this matter is going too be greatly appeciated as too avoid unnecersary garage costs. My guess would be that you're getting air into the fuel system. Before starting, squeeze the hand primer several times.

What type of pump do you have? If its a Bosch air can get in through the injector leakoff pipes - but not on Roto-Diesel.
Why not change the last bit of pipe to the pump to clear plastic - and watch the bubbles !

Sorry - thought we were talking about an XUD with a mechanical pump.
