Xantia 1.9td Cylinder head removal

Am towards the latter end of removing the head, first time have done one. I have looked at BOL and it states to remove the front plate bolts, where the injection pump mounting bracket is. Is this completely necessary or a typical BOL overkill? It was getting dark so I stopped for the eve as I couldn't really see the relevant nuts and bolts.
I have removed all pipework, manifolds, fuel filter housing, o/s mount, timing belt and casing, injector fuel pipes, so pretty far in and hope not too far off, just the last hurdle.
I have removed all tyhe head bolts as well, just have this business with the front plate left.
Any tips for the final push appreciated.

When I did the head on the BX, I bent the front plate slightly to clear the camshaft. It gave me enough room to get the head off.
