Xantia Radiator change

Unread post by kinrsole »

I have just bought a new radiator for my Xantia 2.1 TD.
Before I jump in feet first are there any helpful tips on how to do this.
I have had a look in the manual but all it says is to remove radiator and refit is the reverse of removal!
Where are the bleed points on a Xantia?
Do I need to make a header tank as on a ZX?
What’s the best way to avoid airlocks?
The car has aircon. What difference does this have, if any, to fitting the radiator?
Cheers

Its quite straight forward, biggest problem I had was getting the bottom hose off. It is a funny push fit which gets corroded in and there is just no room to get at it and apply the necessary force. Same issue trying to get it back in even after a very careful clean up of the metal coupling on the hose.
To contrast – rad change on 1.9TD took me approx 40mins, rad change on 2.1TD about 2hrs.
No particular added complication with the air con on the 2.1 and no major problems with airlocks/bleeding.
Best of Luck

Managed to remove radiator (along with most of the skin from my knuckles)
New rad is in place but can't get the bottom hose on.I've cleaned it and greased it up but it just won't go on any futher.Got rained off so will have another go tomorrow. Is there an easy way to do these or do I just keep waggling it till one of use gives up!
I can't seem to see anywhere to bleed the system when I fill it back up.
Can any one point me toward the bleed nipples?
cheers

The 2.1 has the header tank relatively high up, so bleeding it is easier than most other engine types, especially those where the header tank seems to be fitted as low down as possible.
