TOO MANY BADGES !

Post by ACTIVE8 »

This car surely has too many badges. If you take a look at the picture of the rear of the car, which is an early Activa it's covered in them.

It's not as Citroen intended, and is not subtle.

Looks like it has problems as well.
There is a lean on the car, back left is high looks like could be problems there!
They have added a turbo badge on to boot lid WHY!! Looks like the kind of thing a boy racer would do.

Mercedes have in the past used letters to I.D. their cars. For example 230E was the old 2.3 litre W123 chassis which was around the time when cars were going from carburetors to injection, and this is what the E stood for compared to the earlier model the 230, the E being an abreviation for the German word for injection.
If you purchased a later model car like the SLK previously, then that's the badge that would be on the rear of the car unless you debadged it. S.L.K. stands for Sports Light Kompressor.
Currently if you purchase any model in their range with a kompressor on it, then the badge in chrome look lettering, takes up a lot of space on the boot. Kompressor is German for supercharger, so it would be too long in English also. They should have stuck with the letter K as it works better, and is more subtle.
Do any other forum members have examples of odd badges, excessive details letters etc ?

Early '70s Fords in general - by ordering all the accessory packs, you could become the proud owner of a GTXLR!

I'm always amused by Peugeot badging from the early 90's - took me a long tome to work out that what looked like a GROT was in fact a GRDT

No, your car looks good ! [:D]
The GB badge is a legal requirement, and looks better than a plain white sticker.
So, effectively the only extra badge is the Xantia below the rear number plate, which looks good, and different.
The Activa in the picture has a boy racer theme, and looks OTT.
While your car does not ! [:)]

No worries Active8 - its a matter of preference!
What you cant see on mine is the Citroen badge on the left side has been replaced with a C5 example (high chrome finish) as has the LX badge (also C5) the HDi badge is a green Pug 406 variant. The Xantia chrome badge was meant to replace the standard item, but didnt look right when put in place on a dry run, so found its home under the number plate.
The wife thinks there are too many! I like it, sod everyone else!!! Each to their own though with taste.

My personal preference is to leave things as they came out of the factory, it makes them easier to sell later on...
