Xantia Oil Leak

1.9 TD 97. Does this vehicle have a sump gasket as mine appears to have a leak from that area. On checking the block and sump seem to have some white rubber gasket compound on. Should this not be a cork/rubber gasket?

a lot of the models are face to face just a sealing compound a very common place to leak is on flywheel end you would assume it is rear crank but it is usually the 2 oil seals on main crank bearing (hockey stick seals)
