Bosch AS3 VP20 Injection pump

Post by Lionel »

Can anyone help, Can you tell me how to adjust the compensation and max fuelling on this pump. Are there any simple ways to lower smoke emissions for the MOT test.

Did you give it a good thrashing through the gears before going for the test, otherwise known as the Italian decoke.
What year is it.

Have you actually got a problem or are you concerned you may have?
The MOT test is set out here: http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_740.htm
Injection cleaner may help nut the 'Italian Tuneup' is recommended by many including the trade.

You shouldn't need to adjust the pump at all.
Excess smoke can be a sign that you've got a blocked intake (dirty air filter or collapsing hoses), a leaky turbo or valve guides (blue smoke) or worn / carbonned up injectors (black smoke). A new air filter and an italian decoke will most probably get it through its MOT, injector cleaner can help, but getting the engine hot enough to burn the soot thats accumulated in the exhaust will be the biggest benefit.
