Squeeching coming from tailgate

Post by crapday »

Hi all, I have a noisy tailgate, when i go over bumps and potholes (which in scotland there are plenty) there is a sqeechy noise. when i look at this in the drive i can't find out were its coming from. i had a mattress in the back taking it to the dump and it must have put some pressure on the tailgate because for the 2 days i had it in the car there was no noise coming from the rear. its not anything major its just annoying.
cheers
gary.

Bit of 3-in-1 oil on the hinges? Are the rubber stops still there? Have you a nest of mice in your tailgate? (only kidding on that last one!)
Hard to tell without hearing it, but try folding the back seats down, and sitting in the bbot while someone drives you up and down a bumpy bit of road.....

My Xantia tailgate used to creak.
I adjusted the rubber bump stops to cure it.
