ZX Dipstick

Post by zxbomb »

This is a dipstick subject in more senses than one!
The rubber seal around the top of my 1997 1.4 ZX dipstick has become detatched and is now either.
A: Lost within the dipstick tube.
B: floating in the sump.
Is it possible to remove the dipstick tube? + any thoughts of potential hazards of foreign objects in sump?
Any ideas most appreciated.

The rubber bits will fall down and stay at the bottom of the sump and will most likely flow out with oil on next oil change.
No worries [;)]

If you worried about it though you can remove the dip stick tube as ther are only a push fit. There is an 'O' ring which is only a few pence on the bottom of the dip stick tube, but to you have to undo all the breather pipe work and fanny about. This in turn can cause a nasty oil leak from the bottom of the DS tube it self. The oil pick up has a good metal filter over it and that pices of runbber thats on the dip stick it self shouldn't grt sucked up. Just drain the oil and re-fil.
