406 air temp display

Post by turbolag »

My 406 has taken to telling me big fibs. When it's been parked at work all day I get in and it tells me 'Risk Of Ice' and shows about 0 degrees C, which is probably near enough the truth with frost on the ground. However, within a few minutes of driving the displayed air temp has risen to 8 - 11 degrees C, which with all the frost and the ice is obviously a fib. anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks in advance,
Rich.

Could be a dodgy sensor, Water in the sensor or a dodgy connection to the sensor.
The sensor might have come lose & is resting on the back of the mirror, I take it you have heated mirrors also?
The sensor is located in the passenger side mirror, Have a look under it for a small raised black lump, Thats the sensor.
If you see a hole & no sensor then it has come lose.

Cheers PowerLee. I found it - it appears to be fitted neatly still in the mirror. I favour your water in the sensor theory as i'm a weekly car detailer.
Anyone know how the mirror comes apart to get at the sensor?
Cheers.
