Has anyone any advice on changing the gearbox oil on a Xantia 110 Hdi?
My car seems to be a bit reluctant to change from 1st to second when cold, so I thought about changing the gear oil to Redline synthetic, which is recommended for Mazda MX5's to improve gear change.
When I asked a local mechanic (not a citroen specialist, I admit) he said not to bother as they are sealed for life.
Is this true?

Haynes mentions checking the level of and topping up gearbox oil as part of the service schedule. Oil doesn't last forever and gearboxes don't have perfect seals.
I changed the gear oil on my Xantia and it improved the gearchange no end, although it isn't marvelous when cold it is fine once its warmed up.

Had a problem with 2001 Xantia HDI 110 gearbox, difficult to change gear, in particular changing up/down fron second to third.
Read a item on this forum about someone stating that water could get in the gearbox .
He recommended a complete gearbox oil change, which my local independent Ctroen carried out
This was about 13.000 miles ago, and the gearchange has been totally transformed.
Almost could be descibed as "slick"
Hope this helps you.
