Radio code help

Post by woody-som »

Hi
I bought my 306 nearly 12months ago, and removed the original radio/cass.
Now that I'm selling the car, I've decided to put the original radio back, but the radio displays ----, the manual says leave it for 1 hour, with the power on, but I've done this, and the display doesn't change.
anyone else had this, or know why it doesn't change.
many thanks
Chris

you will need to key in the pin number, if you dont have it the original suppling Peugeot dealer can get it for you.

thanks, but thats what I want to do, but can't because it's displaying the ----, and not CODE, according to the manual.
I know the code, but the radio appears to be ocked, hence leaveing the power on for 1hr, but no joy.

Have you tried entering the code anyway? Owners manuals often don't match the actual stereo fitted. I've had one in the past that put up ---- when wanting the code to be entered.

thanks for this. this will unlock the radio, and allow me to use it, but for only 5mins, then it reverts back to the ---- display, and still doesn't allow the entry of the security code.

Hi there woody, sorry to jump in on your post but i'm having the
same problem as you on my 306 1995, the battery went flat on me and now the radio code is stuck on " ---- ", left radio on for 3 hours, the radio is the origanal with the car so i have the right code, but it won't let me put it in, do you know how to remove the radio from the dash, as there are no holes on the front of the radio, and the radio looks moulded in with the dash, where are the screw to remove
the radio. Ade

hi ade
it depends on the radio you have but I'll give you both. I used an empty beer can, and cut the required tools.
Clarion radio, cut a strip of metal 15mm wide, and 75-100mm long. then cut a hole 7mm sq 6mm from one end in the centre of the strip.
Blaupunkt radio, cut a strip 10mm wide, and again 75-100 long. then cut a hole 7mm long, 15mm from the end, 2mm wide.
hope this makes sense, and you need to make two of the required type. Then insert them into the slot at the bottom of the radio, if you look carefully, you should see them.

yep, just slide then into the slots, it takes a bit of time to get it right. Once out, you then have the hole, that will take a standard fit radio, and don't worry about the moulded facia panel, this isn't required for the new radio.
I've phone two local peugeot dealers this morning, and they have both said the same. The radio has a fault, and recomend a repair by an electronics specialist. Not worth it in my opinion.

Yep thanks for that, i wanted to take the radio out to see if it had it's own fuse in the back of the radio, or just try disconect the radio then reconect it and see if that works, thanks again Ade.

there is a 10amp blade type fuse at the back, but if the radio is displaying the ----, then it's OK.
looks like you're going to have to pop along to halfords. me, i'm just going to PX the car as it is.

Another handy tip to remove a radio with the two slots, is to use 2 allen keys to fit into the slots, but these must be long enough to open up the catches that are locked into the side of the unit. These are usually 80mm from the front of the radio.

hi woody, i had the same prob on my peugeot radio and was told by my local dealer that the radio would also need to be set off to be reset, costing between 50-100 squid, decided it wasn't worth the hassle
