Car Mechanic Mag!!

Post by Stuart McB »

Not only I have gotten a mention in this months Car Mechanic Mag (moaned about MGB thermostat) [:D] but it also has a buyers guide for the...Citroen Xantia TD. Seems good at first glance. Project car cost £400 [:)]

£400 and they're going to find something wrong with it? They either got ripped off, or its a mk2...

They did an XM 2.1TD as a project car about 3 years ago. I kept the mags but they unfortunately got soaked in temporary storage a couple of months ago. The editor (Peter...erm can't remember the surname)is quite amenable to the odd citroen: is it him writing the project articles?

Have bought the mag for about 8 years, And to give Pete Simpson credit he is a fan of hydraulic cit's and gives a very fair and true write up, almost 100% positive in fact after I read an old issue it sort of made my mind up about getting a xant.
Look forward to this months issue....

Slightly OT - but a bit in todays Daily Express (me mothers honest guv), said when buting a 5 year old car for about 5 grand (!) you should make sure its had its head gasket replaced.....
Who writes this drivel?
I mean, yes they go pop, but so long as you look after the car and change the coolant / make sure the rad isnt clogged etc.....

To be fare to CMM they writer does sound realy quite positive about his purchase. He seems to understand that it'll need new spheres and, or anti sink valve thing( excuse me pleae Citroen with regular springs owner). Also going for a cam belt change aswell. On the whole it reads very well. Most surprised.

Yes, true. Although my guess is that Stuart McB has a subscription. Generally subscribers will have a copy of the magazine posted to their address, and will receive it before it's available in the shops.
