12V Feed.

Post by max100 »

I understand from looking at my car handbook and fuse board, that there is already a 12V feed for a towbar, somewhere in the car.
Can anyone explain where it is, what colour wire it is.
I have an 02 Xsara.
Thank you

Mine (03 Xsara) was red. Thicker than all the other cables in that area. runs alongside a bunch of thin wires ending up in a loose multiplug for the optional sat-nav computer which mounts on the left wheel arch. It was under the carpet in the back left corner of the boot. If you take out the spare wheel tools and pull the carpet back you should find it. It was a while ago but I think the cable comes down the right side of the car to the back, then goes across the boot to the left side, but I will confirm at lunch time.

Thanks for the reply.
It sounds like your spare wheel is accessed from the boot.
Mine is "slung" underneath as it is an estate.
It gives me some confidence of finding it when I remove the interior panels to get at the wiring.

Er no, the spare wheel is under the car. I meant the spare wheel TOOLS, as in the spanner to undo the wheel nuts. They are fastened to the inside of the boot I'm sure you won't miss the wires when you lift the carpet.
