405 Fuel line problem

405 Fuel line problem

OK over the past couple of weeks I have been having increasing trouble starting my 1.9TD managed to trace this down to air getting into the fuel line when the car is standing about. Last night spotted a small amount of diesel weeping from the engine this was coming from the black cylinder just above the oil filler in this photo:

more specifically from this white nut the bit right in the centre of the photo:

OK two questions:
1) What is this bit?
2) And you saw this one coming. How do I fix it?

Hi
Thats the fuel filter housing, They normally leak from around the O ring at the top.

Ah ok. Thanks PowerLee, will have a look at it at the weekend and see if I can clear it up.
