Water in Diesel Light

Post by soupy_sam »

I have just serviced my Xantia 1.9 LX TD and the Water in Fuel light is on all the time ignition is on. What have I done or what is wrong?

Did you replace the fuel filter?
Try draining the filter. But this is a common fault with the sensor, I ignored mine for about a year before I swapped it over from another engine, now it doesn't bother me anymore.
Ignore it! ;)

If the light wasn't on before you fiddled with it then you have disturbed something, but try lightly cleaning the sensor first with a fine plastic pan scrubber, do not use abrasives such as emery cloth.
Of course the other reason for the light being on is that there may well be water in the fuel.
