Windscreen Wash

Unread post by demag »

Where oh where can I get some decent screenwash?
Years ago I used to use Flash Liquid and the screen sparkled. Then they changed it and its as crap as everything else now, a nice film of traffic gunge smeared across the screen.[xx(]

Get some of Clearalex crystals or tablets (you can get them in Halfrauds). I have no idea what's in them, but it is unsurpassed for keeping windscreens clean. Takes a while to cut through the gunge initially but it gets there. Add some meths to the washers to stop them freezing (or some other screenwash additive if you don't like the smell!).

I find that 'Comma' screen wash does a very good job.

Just a word of warning though. If you add spirit based cleaners to a washer that has used soap based cleaners you can end up with a whole mass of washer clogging 'gunge' that has come from the mixing. At least flush the system through several times with plain water first.
A chore I know but worth it and even then the spirit based cleaner will lift off the soap coating from inside the pipes and tank over time. R.
