Citroëns in movies and Pug commercial

Post by 406 V6 »

Hi!
I hope i'm not re-posting a topic, but i noticed in a film (Team America - world police) that a lovely large scale DS model appears twice at the beggining of the movie.[:D][8D]
Now, for the second topic subject:
Have you seen the Pug 407 commercial with those paper/toy cars?
I was told that some (if not most) of the cars appearing are DS, but haven't seen it with attention yet ( any online source for it?)
By the time every car manufacturer and Pug were breast-feeding, Citroën presented us with the first high pressure brakes, self-levelling suspension, progressive steering assistance and directional headlights.
No car is even close to a DS in terms of comfort, and we are talking about a model 50 years old!
ARRRRGH!!!!!AND THEY CALL THE 407 A REAL CAR??????!!!!!

Having just watched the French film Amelie, in the first few minutes there is a crash between a blue CX and an LNA. The film was made (and set) in 2001, so it's odd they choose these old cars. Later in the film there is a new shape beetle, and a fleeting glimpse of a DS. Apart from these there are no other cars in the movie.
Maybe it just goes to show that Citroëns are the definitive french cars, as there are plenty of veteran Pugs or Renaults they could have chosen.

erm... wasn't the story based upon Amelie growing up... would have been a bit silly having the same age cars when she was small, and then grown up!

Oh yeah, good point!!!
Doh!
Anyhow the DS was shown in a scene when she was an adult.......
BTW, when I say definitive french cars I really mean 'Definitively french' in the way bangers and mash are definitively english, I wasn't slagging off any other french cars, just that Citroëns are seen as more 'french' than Pugs or Rens.

Has anybody caught the reg number of the 504 in the advert? it might be interesting to run it though the RAC/DVLA history check mentioned on the forum a while back and see what it says.
