Xantia Towbar Wiring - My Explaination!

Post by xantiatdsx »

Recently wired up a trailer socket to my 1994 Xantia TD Hatchback.
The results of my wiring investigations can be seen here!

Excellent. I have been putting off doing the job, but was looking at it today. Did you "piggyback" or is there a way of going direct to the plug on the cluster?
Also,is there any reason to have separate wires from each side tail light and stop light - couldn't the power just be taken from one side in each instance?

I just piggy backed them! apparently you can buy a connector from Citroen, but for nearlty a 10th the cost of the car i decided against it!!!
I believe you need to take the tail/side lights from both sides as they are wired diagonaly across the car so you do not loose all your rear or all your front lights. This as well will prevent the risk of blowing a fuse from drawing too much current i think! Im not an expert with electronics, I just like to have a go! [;)]
Good luck and dont be put off trying. I didnt bother doing the fog light but I suppose i could at a later date! Im just lazy.

sorry, just read your reply again. the diagram shows the red brake light from both when it should be either as you only have 1 pin on the round socket for the brake... oops. sorry!
