Citroen / Peugeot Diagnostics

Has anybody had any experience of connecting a laptop to your car through the diagnostic port? My 306 seems to have an EOBD 16 pin connector under the steering coloumn, by the fuse box, but I have read it is not fully EOBD compatible.

seems to claim it can read certain PSA vehicles, but I bet its expensive....
Is there anyway of finding out if my car supports EOBD? It didnt have to be implemented until 31st December 2000, but mine is a November 1999 car and seems to have the socket....
I have got hold of a copy of Digimoto v3.7, this claims to read OBDII and EOBD, their website shows peugeot and citroen compatibility, but the 306 is not listed, but strangely the 406 HDi is.
The point of this is simple. If this works, then there will be no expensive trips to the dealers to hook the car up on their diag machines. Also, this is how some companies access your ECU to 'chiptune' them (probably only of interest to HDi owners), a procedure which ttakes all of 10 minutes and they charge you £300!!

I've got a version of DIAG2000 software, but I havent done anything with it yet (I'm not sure it will even run on a 'normal' desktop PC?, Some guys on a French forum reckon it need dedicated PSA hardware...) so perhaps this is an avenue to explore. I'll update you if it works.
