Explosion and smoke when pulled handbrake on...2

Post by rashmore »

Finally able to get under the car this weekend to examine and fix the problem (ref post 6 Jan)
Both cables had snapped, one in the middle, the other, the end hand come off. Now replaced, no more wooden chocks.
Curiously the handbrake light started working on its own last week(pity the cables hadn't) so left well alone (hands were frozen by now anyway)
However whilst refitting the rear wheels, I noticed that the outer edges were wearing faster than the rest of the tyre - about 3cm in from edge (if on front then could be explained as tracking out) more so left hand side.
Is this something I should worry about as not had this on previous zx (or other cars), possible symptom of something else wearing out ? or should I just put it down to driving style
Had four new tyres at same. Going to get tracking checked anyway as steering feels a little off.
Cheers
