When I got my first BX, I wanted to set up the Citroen Owners Club of Kent, before I realised that the acronym wouldn't work. Does anyone else have any inappropriate, misleading or palin silly french car-related acronyms?

I think it was for this reason Ford never made an 'Si' version of the KA.

Sorry not french but from the land of the rising sun. To day saw the mankiest old Mk 1 Micra with the words s**t hot on the number plate and on a decal where the name badge should have been.

Cast your minds to the early BX. On this side of La Manche they are called 17RD for the the N/A diesel the 17DTR for the turbo. The turbo version in Europe is called the 17TRD, someone at Slough realised the problem and the badges were changed on UK cars. 17TuRD anybody[:D]

FIAT of course: Fix It Again Today
And then the name change in Citroen that took place in the early 90s: AX became Saxo, XS - Xsara, XA - Xantia. The only name that didn't have a successor was BX, because there's only one word you can make with B and X in it. But you'd need balls to drive one [:)] !!

Well, I was using a little poetic licence - sometimes the suspension of disbelief is necessary for the creation of a comic situation. But I take your point....

How about Britsh leyland. Stood for..... that's wright. Rubbish cars put together by monkeys who were on strike all the time up at coffton hackett on a jolly, while the British car industry was on its knees. Now there I've said it. (moves away with back to the wall looking for flying debris).

Not exactly a French car related acronym, but a French car-related acronym.
Toyota MR2
How would a Frenchman pronounce MR2?
Em-Er-Deux
Say it quickly - 'Merde'
Quite ;)

Oh dear [:)] Toyota seem to have problems with their names - Pajero in South American spanish is almost the same word as the slang for Lesbian.
