Took on a yuff and won.
I know I shouldn't have done it but he was asking for it [}:)]. Sat at a set of lights yesterday on a dual carriage with no one about, in my ickle Xsara 1.6 VTR when a young boy (yuff) pulls up on the inside, you know what he looked like. Yes, base ball cap and massive hearing problem so I was forced to listen to MC dickhead or something. Any how he starts to edge over the white line in his Pug 306 looking at me and reving his pug. Now this set of lights has a near 90 deg bend to the right after a mere 10 yards so I reckoned I could burn him up befor this beat him to the corner and leave him standing [}:)]. Lights hit amber and away we go, I'm at the bend first but he then pulls along side and I see the wording 306 GTi6 on the pug, it's all over [:(]he toots his horn and drives off while looking at me smugly, almost straight in to a parked car. I slowed down and sat along side (waiting for a few more cars to catch us) smiled (who's smug now eh!)and tooted my horn and drove off leaving him stuck in the traffic. [:D][:D]. All the way back home I could see him in my mirror trying to get round other cars to catch me but I just did all the speed limits in to town. Ha Ha. Dont you just love it when driving experience out weighs driving speed. [8D]

When I had my first BX, I discovered that moving off from the lights in second would give me a burst of speed after about 10 metres that would leave most yoofs bewildered and behind me [:)] For anyone who is interested, you need to release the clutch very gently and depress the throttle quite hard initially until the inertia is overcome, and then you're off. Not only do you move off quickly, you save a bit of time by not having to change up.
I'm not sure if this works with petrols, but diesels seem to handle it. I never made a habit of racing chavs, but every so often...

Every so often we take the bait, not so much now that we are older and paragons of sensibility, in my two wheeled days the red mist used to descend fairly often, nowadays its rarer, still nice to outdrag a chavmobile occasionally, my favourite one is high speedcornering in the mountains, if you can just get them to latch on then tow em through a couple of long sweepers, the oleo sorts out the off camber bumps whilst their lowered low profile things tend to squirm.

Too many years ago to admit, I used to meet a 1960's version of a chav in a mini. I had no real intention of overtaking him, couldn't anyway on a twisty country lane but my Anglia, (1556 Lotus under the hood) was quicker down the straight bits.
Just stayed with him all the way until he drifted gently but very securely off the road onto a wide verge and stayed there.
Selfishly I just waved and drove on. Don't think I could do that now, the drive on by bit. Guilt creeps in with age.
Incidentally how do they afford such expensive gismo's? I sure as hell couldn't at 18! R

Finance, free insurance, mummy and daddy basically
A number of years back, hmm must be over 10 now (argh), my friend left college in his (old) W reg Mini 850 and was followed by a new 1.3i mini which whilst trying to keep up with him on this twisty road about a mile from the college, spun it into a bank. 13" narrow tyred, raised minis didnt handle as well as the originals This also reminds me of the day some bloke turned into the road by the college in another mini but didnt make it and understeered up onto the curb into a parked car in front of loads of students and then tons more that came out to look/laugh/laugh more

I bought my AX off a welsh bloke ( family man, two kids, jag, ford galaxy ), I don't think he was into the boy racer stuff - he was more for the economy, but someone before me had put loads of "max power" stickers on every window, on the rear view mirror, and even some strange brackets on the wiper arms which look like they could have been for spoilers or something.
I know it's pretty fast ( when not carrying anything/anyone ), but come on...
EDIT: oh, and that's not including the larger pedal metal thing screwed into the rubber and the original clutch pedal...

Chavs buy cheap cars and then upgrade them because it a) spreads the cost - important when you are stacking shelves or drawing the dole, and b) offers instant gratification - I mean who saves up for anything these days?
SWMBO and I were out in the TZD last night coming off a large roundabout onto the motorway. Chav escort with those flippin' LEDs on the bonnet started tailgate-surging behind me. Up ahead was a 40-footer moving slowly onto the slow lane. I knew chav and mates would want to surge past me, probably gesticulating. So as I came off the sliproad, I moved onto the middle lane, gave the TZD her head, and watched laughing to myself as LEDs receded into the distance on the FAST lane where chavescort had driven in anticipation of a cheap thrill.
OK, not very mature I admit, but well and truly BXed!
On a different note, I think someone has tweaked the TZD. It's a LOT faster than the last BX and particularly from 70mph to 1**mph. What kinds of tweaks could have this effect and what other implications may they have for HGF, cylinders etc.?
