Jerky Throttle Response

I get quite a jerky throttle response when excelerating is the 306 reknown for a defective accelerator linkage or could it be something else? If so what can I do?

Which engine is this? My HDi does this between 1600 - 2000 revs, foot held constant on the accelerator and you will feel it surge between these revs....most odd.

I have the 306 1.8 XS, mine is jerky within the lower rev range two, I also tend to get the odd flat spot? Any ideas???
