Mystery Blanking Plate on 309

Unread post by burns »

When I was fitting my new dash in my 309 I found what I assume is a blanking plate for a feature my car doesn't have. The plate in question is under the bottom of the steering column cowl. On the back is a straight through connection with a plug going onto it. The only clue I've found to it's function is that when the plug is unplugged the dash ilumination doesn't work.
So I guess there would be a switch for the dash lights there on some models or somthing? Or maybe a resistor to vary the brightness. I was just wondering if anyone knew anymore about this. Thanks.

Sounds like the dimmer switch for the dash lights to me.
