CITROEN ZX 2.0 16V

The alarm on my zx has never sounded.The indicators flash on when armed and the light by the clock blinks on and off.But if i open the door with key nothing?Anybody got any ideas as to what the problem is?

There is a switch (operated by inserting the ignition key) on the cross member just behind the driver's side headlight which disables the sounder. Mine has never sounded either - I'm not tempted to turn it on just in case.

in my experience the actuall unit being bolted to the chassis leg/ front panel suffers from a bad earth due to corrosion or the plug that is linked to the unit.
