Front brake pump.

Post by adzbaby »

Hi All and a Happy New Year.
I have had a guy email me about the front brake pump for a 1994 Citroen BX14TGE and he asked me if one exists on the xantia that would be compatible.
Does anyone know?
I thought the brake fluid was driven by the h/pump next the the alternator.
Adam.

I'm not quite sure he means by "front brake pump", but as far as I know no Xantia hydraulic parts are compatible with the BX.
(Apart from the spheres on some models)

The xantia and BX are all a Central Hydralic system driven off ONE hydraulic pump (Off the crank on Petrols, Cam on BX Diesels, off Crank on all Xantias.)
The xantia Pumps are DIFFERENT, and 1994 onwards Xantia pumps VERY different as the deleted the FLOW Distributer from the Hydraulic circuits!!

What is the output of a Xantia pump? Would it be a good swap for the CX?

Again only a VERY EARLY xantia pump, from a K reg car would do, as later pump have the input from the resovior, and TWO HP outputs. One to the regulator, the other goes DIRECT TO the power steering circuit.
I think you'll find the CX has the Older System with the flow distributer ah la BX

I would be very suspicious of using a Xantia pump at all since PSA went over to NPC (Nasty Plastic Construction). The pumps on CX's, BX's and early XM's seem much more robust.

Hi - only for early Xantias they went plastic... When the HP output was doubled and the FLOW BLOCK above the regulator was deleted, they went back to meatal pumps.
My Xantia (Old), on its ORIGINAL pump is knocking on 190,000 uk miles and it still delivers a good pressure....
