Xantia / Steering Wheel Controls

Unread post by ripsaw82 »

Got a new headunit, Pioneer DEH-P7600MP

Then bought the radio lead
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product ... ts_id=3489
then the vechical interface lead here...
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product ... ts_id=3486
Now they should all "just work" should they not? Or is there somthing special you have to do? Because i wired them all up today, the steering wheel controls light up, but do not work [:(!][8)][|)][xx(]
Has anybody actually got the steering wheel controls to work with a non factory head unit?

Yep! had a Sony unit with an Autoleads adaptor. Just pluged straight in and worked great from the steering wheel on my first Xsara. However I did read up first and found that some units are not steering wheel compatible but are compatable with steering wheel 'STALK' controls. If you do a site search on here you'll find lots of info.

The steering wheel controls never even worked with my factory unit - though I did discover when pulling it out that it was a 96 Clarion (Citroen) head fitted into a 2000 Xantia.... The lead would not fit the head unit!
I now have a nice Sony MP3 player instead.

Yes, mine works fine. Got an Sony unit and a Sony lead adaptor and dashboard facia (Autoleads make them). I know that when I fitted mine, I had to cross certain wires depending on what year the car was.
