ok onto different fuels

Post by neilsxm »

hi all
what about this for different fuels
a friend uses hydraulic oil iso grade 46 as a straight fuel no mixing with diesel
he has a citroen xantia 1.9td (lucas)he's been running this for the last 4 years doing about 15000 miles a year with no problems it even goes for it's test with a full tank of hydraulic oil and hasn't failed on emmisions!
also run an orion diesel (lucas)on it aswell same again no problems
it also doesn't black smoke like diesel does!!
i,ve been using a mix of used commercial diesel engine oil mixed with diesel about 30/70 oil/diesel with no problems
no lack of performance and no increase in smoke blue or black
in my xm 2.5td for 2 years now and the cars got 175,000 miles on it back and still does around 35mpg(urban)with regular itailan tune ups!!
anybody else tried these and/or other fuels in diesel engines??
cheers neil

How often does the fuel filter need changing? Fairly often, me thinks!

hi john
the car gets a service regularly but no more than usual about 6,000-8,000 miles the diesel filter is usually clean'ish haven't noticed it full of crud or anything
as anyone on here tried propane injection on a diesel?
results/comments?
cheers neil

Surely the Hydraulic oil costs more than Diesel? - I know how much a liter of LHM sets me back....

Cheaper than cooking oil then!
Often wonderd if the garages which change LHM use the old stuff in their DERV cars!?

Neilxsm, found this a while ago propane power, heard a story about a road haulage company that got done a while ago, an entire fleet of trucks running on transformer cooling oil, believe C&E got em because they hadnt bought any derv for months
