Alarm!!

Ok so I've had a quick look through some of the alarm topics, but there are so many I got a bit confused!
I have a Xantia '94 XS 1.9TD, the deadlocks work from button b on my keys but the indicators don't flash when I press that button so I don't think the alarm's arming. The light by theclock doesn't flash either...
So I went under the hood and found the keyhole I've seen people mention, turned it to the on position and the alarm started to sound constantly, no lights flashing or anything like that. Had to turn it back off. Any ideas what's up with the thing and how I might go about getting it working?

Try disconnecting the battery,reconnect after about ten minutes.The alarm might sound as you close the bonnet, switch off with remote.Then re arm as normal.always works on mine so worth a try.
