BX Computer Software

Post by Ian Fearn »

Yesterday i was at my local citroen garage getting some fiddly little clips for my fog lamps and headlights.
They'd actually ordered the wrong ones, so showed me this cracking piece of software that breaks down the BX into component form, right down to the little clips i wanted.
Anybody know if this or anything similar is available to the general public?
It would be soooo useful!

and dont go ordering stuff without checking that the garage doesnt mind first. My local (Arnold Clark) went nuts at the mere thought of me using the PR.net, where as the one local to my parents (Caledonia) love me using it as it saves them a lot of messing around.
You'll often find if you call a dealer they refuse to look for parts without the VIN number, thats because there muppets who cant manage the LASER system well (LASER is the name of the dealer side of the PR.net).
And NO you cant get it for Peugeot!

I dont use them for anything special, there just very close to my liverpool dwelling for parts. But they aren't very good. Went for a quote quite some time ago and after sitting and waiting for over an hour for someone to come and have a look i went and managed to find a manager and asked them to explain why i had been sat for an hour without one person speaking to me. Then we went and looked at the damage that needed repairing, im still waiting for the quote and that was 3 months ago!
Caledonia on the other hand would happily kiss your ass if you asked, regardless of if your going to buy a new car or not, there all really friendly and i find i can walk in walk around and have a good look at the cars without being hounded to buy right there and then. I went in to have a look at a C2 GT not too long ago, and they did me a deal on a C5 VTX? Diesel with every possible option for less than a basic C2! I was very happy [:D], didnt want or need a car though

I got my Kangoo from Clarks. The salesman had put the mileage as twenty thousand less than it had really done on the receipt. Clarks adjusted this without apology when I informed them. The spare tyre was flat when I went to change it. Wouldn't stay up. An independent tyre store pointed out it had been damaged by forcing on to the rim. Clarks replaced with brand new Michelin without quibble. I always hire from them and they are very friendly. So they have good points and bad points. My Peugeot came from them originally but they have not been near it since I took posession.

Vanny there used to be a really good bloke in the parts department at Arnold Clarke when I was running my 16v. He's likely to be long gone now though but I must say its not really the dealers its the staff they employ that determine how good they are. Obviously, given Arnie's great rep, he employs a few bad apples. In fact he employs a whole orchard of bad apples come to think of it.

Back to the plot, not Arnie. You need to get a user name and p/w from your Citroen dealer. Claim to be a local Specialist or something. Really.
It only goes upto BX for the oldest cars, 2cv, Visa etc are still on microfiche.

In response to Bernie,
it couldnt have been more simple? Just fill in the questions, tell them where your local dealer is and they send you an e-mail with a password.

I did it, thanks Ian and Jon.
Very useful, does it do prices as well?

Yes. Double click on the part number listed on the right, a window will appear, Add to Basket, Click OK. Then in the top nav, click Baskets and Estimates, and you'll see the parts you've chosen with the prices.

If so when is my hurricane going on the listing, i think it'll be the only one on there?
I've sent the basic details through and i'll get some digital photos done and better description when my mate lends me the camera, the car has cost me way too much now and i've only had it since september!
