306 TD heater/blower fan stopped working

Unread post by darren.taylor36 »

The heater/blower fan on my 98(R) 306 1.9 DT has given up the ghost.
Fuses are OK, could be the relay, does anyone know which relay & where it is.
The heater control seems OK as I can still get hot/cold air out of vents when travelling at speed just no fan control.
Any help would be appeciated, Thanks

Sounds like the fan resistor not relay. This shouldn't take to long to remove. If it any thing like the Xsara its by the motor assembly and the passenger side.

I have replaced the resistor with a brand new one & blower still not working.
Motor is OK as I removed & tested it.
Anyone else have any sugestions?
Also could anyone tell me what temp my engine should be running at under normal conditions, Since the problem with the heater/blower I have noticed the temp seems to run high at around the 90 mark, could the problems be connected?

HI have you managed to resolve your problem as I now have the same problem. I'm heading towards the ignition switch or a relay somewhere.
Thanks

Bad connection on heater supply..assuming youve checked your fuses etc.

When I last changed my heater matrix, I recall a connector plug/socket for the blower. Have a fish around both footwells near the blower, for this connector and check it. I have heard of other people having poor/corroded connectors.

I've managed to resolve the problem, other that the relay getting hot and melting its connection, a connector by the blower motor had failed and started to short. Had to have the dash pretty much fully apart.
I hope this helps people. For info for Darren, see if the relay has melted it connection. should give you an idea where the problem is related. Good luck
