xsara heater blower

Post by copydoc »

I have a 2 year 0ld 2.0 Hdi Xsara. While driving down the motorway the heater blower came on and will not turn off (i can make it blow harder if i turn the speed up to full).
Could somebody please tell me what I need to fix this and where I can get it?

Does the blower go off when the ignition is turned off? or is it on all the time? If the later then the motor has its supply straight to earth.

Sounds like a resistor has gone. The Belingo had a similar problem, the fan was on full power all the time. The resistor pack is about £40 from the dealers, but I remember a thread on here earlier this year about repairing the unit with bits from Maplins for pennies.

The blower does go off with the ignition and does not start until the engine actually fires. I will have a look for the resistor repair article or a source for the pack (my dealer couldnt find its own arse with both hands) Thanks

Dealers don't have em (a**e) that is as they've been kicked so many times. This does sound like the resistor pack as Dave Bamber replies.
