in malaysia a 1997/98 used peugeot 406 cost around RM50,000 or abt GBP7,000(GBP1=RM7 now).we normally buy used car like this with interest around 5.0%pa compounded interest which is something like 10% pa at the end of the term for normally 5-7 years.
New cars are lower interest which is around 3.0%pa compounded (6% effective) for a whopping 9 years term even for a Proton car!
Imagine when it was new,the car costed around RM140,000 or GBP35,000(GBP1=RM4 then).
A new 2.0 407 automatic today costs around GBP13,000 but here it costs around RM164,000 abt GBP22,000 but it will retain the price and I presume in the year say 2010 the car would still cost RM70,000 or GBP10,000.Phew,what a price for a used car!
Wonder how much the 2004 407 would cost in UK in 2010?
In UK today (I saw in BBC topgear last night),u can get a top of range german car for almost GBP60k which is only RM420,000.But in malaysia these cars would have fetched close to RM750,000!!!! e.g BMW535TDi or S500 (GBP100,000)!!
I wish car prices in malaysia could go down like UK price guys....only in my dreams maybe!

Year but German cars are sooooooo boring. You never have any thing to do on them. No bulbs to replace, no oil & filter change. Life would be dull. Better stick to a Citroen or Peugeot. At least you have some thing do on the week end. LOL

in UK, a 7 or 8 yr old 406 would probably cost max GBP2000?right?that's cheap man abt RM14,000!
here, that kind of money can only buy a 15yr old Proton MPI or 1989 Toyota Corrolla or any 15yr old Japs!imagine that!and we can finance the car for 3 years monthly payments with interest as high as 10%pa(20% effective)!!!!
